Why is Kim Kardashian and the family considered celebrities?

Why is Kim Kardashian and the family considered celebrities?
Just because their dad was a lawyer and because they're rich, doesn't mean they should be famous for some reason, anyone could could be rich and be a lawyer! What's your opinion?
